Pembaca Kartu Tanda Penduduk Elektronik (Pembaca KTP-el)

Kartu tanda penduduk elektronik (KTP-el) adalah kartu identitas bagi setiap

warga negara Indonesia yang menggunakan teknologi smart card dan

biometrik untuk menjamin ketunggalan identitas pemegangnya. Selain

terlihat secara visual, data-data pribadi penduduk pada KTP-el juga tersimpan

pada chip smart card yang tertanam pada kartu dan hanya dapat diakses

secara algoritma tertentu. Selain menyimpan data pribadi kependudukan,

KTP-el juga menyimpan biometrik pemiliknya yang dapat diverifikasi dengan

menggunakan sidik jari.

Pembaca KTP-el adalah alat untuk membaca dan memverifikasi data pribadi

penduduk yang tersimpan pada chip KTP-el. Dengan menggunakan Pembaca

KTP-el, KTP-el dapat dibaca dan diverifikasi terhadap pemegangnya untuk

memberikan jaminan bahwa KTP-el tersebut dipergunakan sebagaimana

mestinya oleh pemegangnya yang berhak.
